The Reveal

It’s been a long road. It’s hard to believe this time last year I was just starting to consider this project, and just starting to casually window-shop for an Aerostar.

This past weekend my husband Scott and I rented an Airbnb in the Poconos to celebrate our four year anniversary, and we invited all of our friends to celebrate with us. Conveniently, our Airbnb was only about 25 minutes from my parent’s house, so this ended up being the perfect, and most unexpected way to reveal the gift.

We arrived early Thursday, around 2:30pm, and I asked my parents to come check out our Airbnb that afternoon, before our friends would arrive the following day. They were due to arrive around 3:00pm.

I parked the car out front, angled like it was in a showroom and not just parked in the driveway casually. And of course, I added a bow, because why wouldn’t I add a bow?

I initially stayed hidden behind the van when they pulled up, because I thought they would pull into the spot next to it and I’d have a great shot.

Instead they just pulled over and stared at the van from in their car, so I walked over to them. Thankfully, Scott was recording too, because he got all the good stuff.

I couldn’t have asked for a more visceral reaction from my mom:

Is that fuckin’ for me?
Baby’s home!
I can drive again!

The next few hours were spent going out to dinner (in the van) and talking about the journey I’ve been on with this project.

And of course, what followed the next day was a whole new chapter of tech tutorials!
